I have 3 books I'm not sure about.  2 of them I don't know if I should post or offer as an unpostable.  The 3rd is one I got in the mail and I think is RWAP but I just wanted to get another opinion before I mark it so.  The picture quality isn't great, all I have is my cell phone.  Any advice would be great!  Thanks in advance!

Book 1 - Should I post?  Mark along the edge of the pages, could be marker (like a remainder mark) but I'm not sure.

Book 2 -- Not sure if I should post.  It's a fingerprint.  No idea how it got there, it's not mine lol  kinda strange

Book 3 -- This one I got in the mail.  It looks like the cover is coming unglued from the pages.  Pages aren't falling out, but I'm not sure about postability.

If #1 is marker, it is postable.

I personally would clean #2 before posting it ... when I see smudges or dirt on the page edges it is really easy to clean off with sandpaper. (I get mine from the dollar store, and you can't tell that sanding has been done if you do it right. i just squeeze the pages together, with my fingers inside the cover (not on the outside) and sand gently in the direction of the paper. Comes clean beautifully and then there is no question of postability.) I've had one sheet of sandpaper for the past year and a half, and it still has plenty of use in it.

#3 I don't think is postable as it is, but I have seen techniques posted to repair loose glue like that. I think, if I recall correctly, that you can heat up an iron, and then cover the spine with a paper towel or something (to prevent scorching), and then run it over the spine until the glue remelts.

Book1 - can't tell from the pic if it is marker or a stain. If it is a stain, it would be unpostable. Its definitely not characteristic of a remainder mark and looks more like a stain. Does it seep into the pages? If not could you take it off with light sandpaper?

Book2 - as is I would say definitely not postable. The conditions say "not soiled" and a dirty finger print is soiled (and icky) to me. If you could remove it with light sandpaper, then you might be able to get it back to postable.

Book3 - "No separation" of the binding is violated there, but if you can do a good job of glueing so that the repair is not noticeable it might be postable again.

Thanks everyone!

I'm not sure if it's marker on book 1, so i think I'll just suck it up.  I think it might be too dark to do the sandpaper thing.  I think it's marker, but I'm not positive so I just won't post it.

I'll try sandpaper for book 2.  Hopefully it will work, there's nothing else wrong with it and the fingerprint is fairly light.  Wish I knew how it got there though lol

I'll mark book 3 RWAP.  I was pretty sure, but it doesn't hurt to get another opinion.  I always dread that part.  Sometimes the senders are nice, but the last one I had was terrible.  Would i explain it as "seperation of binding"?  I would try to repair it, but I'm not good with that kind of stuff and would probably damage it more blush

I would mark both #1 and #2 as unpostable, based on the pictures. #1 looks like the stain seeps into the pages. If you open it, is there some kind of staining on the inside of the pages or the cover? There should be no stains at all on books sent out through PBS, and they are stains. If you don't want to ask for your credit back, you don't have to. #2 you "might" be able to sand off, but there is no guarantee. I would mark it, and then not ask for the credit back if I was able to sand off the stain.

#3 is definitely unpostable, as everyone else has said.
