When you look the book up in the system, here is the synopsis:

Just when Alex thought his life was calming down into a routine of patients and therapy sessions, he finds himself back in the game--this time to catch a criminal mastermind like no other. A spate of elaborate murders in Washington D.C. have the whole East Coast on edge. They are like nothing Alex Cross and his new girlfriend, Detective Brianna Stone, have ever seen. With each murder, the case becomes increasingly complex. There's only one thing Alex knows: the killer adores an audience. As victims are made into gruesome spectacles citywide, inducing a media hysteria, it becomes clear to Alex that the man he's after is a genius of terror--and he's after fame. The killer has the whole city by its strings--and he'll stop at nothing to become the most terrifying star that Washington D.C. has ever seen.

Carrie do a search for the book, I usually just do All Books - when I just want some information it doesn't matter what binding it is.  Then when it comes up just hover over the picture and you'll get a quick synopsis of the book.  You can go from there - order it or not in a nice easy way.

If you still can't tell check it out on Amazon.  Gives a big synopsis and even some reviews down at the bottom of the page.

When you decide that you have read a book - be sure to rate that book (with the stars) and mark it for being added to your BIR.  It helps a lot to be able to look at your BIR (Books I've Read) to see.  Right now some publishers are busily putting out old books under new covers (Forgotten Realms series in particular), and it can really get confusing!

You are right, Ruth...  The publishers of the Stephen King books periodically change all the covers, updating them with new, more modern graphics and splashy colors.  I then have to think only of the title, and try to remember if I've read it.  In most cases, the answer is "yes", since for many years I was a rabid King fan.  Thank goodness my interests have expanded!  LOL    But you really need to watch out for that.        :)      D.

After you,ve read a hundred or so books by Patterson, Baldacci, Kellerman, Coben and others the plots do tend to blend together. This one , however, is easier to remember because the antagonist  likes to do his evil deeds in a very public forum with hundreds of witnesses --on the stage of a theater, from the balcony of a high rise and from a highway overpass. If you've read this book, that ought to be enough to remind you.

Thomas, Thank you!  I have read that book then.  The synopsis is pretty vague, IMO.  Several of the Cross series are similar in story so I was not sure if I had read that one or not.  But I remember the killing at the theatre very well.  Thanks again!!!
