18-20 years ago I read a book about a girl whose family was transferred to the planet Venus to live. There the girl became very depressed because she needed the sunlight from earth. The sun only broke through the clouds once every year for 30 minutes or so, and some mean kids in school locked her in a closet during this one time of the year. Does anybody remember this book? |

I know exactly the book you are talking about, but I can't remember the name of it. Sorry! I think there is a girl named Margot in it. Last Edited on: 1/22/09 2:47 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I've done some searching and it's called All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury. It's a short story, so you'd probably have to find a book of Bradbury's stories. |

Wow, nice research. I remember watching the short film version of this story for my high school creative writing class (my teacher was kind of into more morbid and depressing stories). What a sad tale.

One of my favorite Ray Bradbury stories. You Tube has the short film in three parts, if anyone is interested in watching. Part one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QWmahMdeGU You can find the other two links from this one. |
