Hi everyone.  I joined a few months ago and was very excited about swapping books.  So far, not much action. there.  Any trade secrets you want to share to help me get this moving along would be greatly appreciated.  Just wanted to let you know that I have several romance books posted if you want to take a look.  My sister in law keeps giving me bags full of them.  My husband said to get rid of them or he will be tossing them in the trash can.  Please help.  I hate to throw away good books.  Happy reading.

TRASH CAN?! TRASH CAN?! Who in their right mind would THROW away books when libraries, used books stores, PEOPLE would take them off your hands. No matter what you do, please do not throw away your perfectly fine books! Donate them. Please!

Hi Donna. I have been a member for a little over a year and I have been steadily swapping books. Here are a couple of suggestions:

You can always post a message in the book bazaar showcasing what books you've got on your bookshelf (for instance- romance, mysteries, thrillers, etc). Also just a post saying "come check out my bookshelf" would probably work. A lot of members post offers of 2 for 1. (I like to get ideas from other members' posts  too!)

One thing that I think really works for me is buying  new books to post that lots of people are wishing for. I get the newest releases to read and get credits for after having posted them to the site. I know this sounds like spending lots of money on books, but I would be doing it whether or not I was a member. This way, I read a lot of new books and get a guaranteed credit because other members want to read them too. I also share a lot of books this way. I save my credits for my wishlist and for books that are not so new or that are in series that I've stumbled upon.

Lastly, I think that posting messages in the forum often will get people to come look at your bookshelf. Sometimes when I read about what others have written, I check their shelf to see if they have anything that I want to read.

There are also lots of libraries or used book stores that will take your books for money or trade...

Hope some of this helps...... Have a great day!

I ordered Comanche Moon from you. My suggestion for getting your books to move is to participate in the forums. I also trade a lot of newer books on here, if you keep an eye on the club wish-list they are guarenteed credits.

I agree with Maria. Posting in the different forums has really helped me.

Also start your own thread on Book Bazaar and keep updating it.

One thing I've started doing  is to check the Book Bazaar threads that are looking for certain books or authors. If I have some of what they're looking for, I pm them and ask them to look at my shelf. That has gotten several orders for me.

Also keep adding books to your shelf. They don't have to be books you've read, go to thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales and buy books. Usually they are very cheap, 25 cents to 50 cents for paperbacks. Even if I don't intend to read them myself I buy them to post. Try to get a variety of genres. You might not read mysteries/ thrillers or westerns but a lot of people do, and it helps to have different types of books on your shelf. Cookbooks and craft books do really well so try some of them.

Good luck and enjoy PBS. It's a great place for people who are addicted to reading like I am!! You've already got some good books on your shelf, keep adding to it.

Welcome aboard, Donna!  You have a wonderful shelf!  Many people here love Nora Roberts and you have a lot of really good ones! :)  I'd suggest posting deals on the Book Bazaar.  Just my opinion! :)

I would definately offer deals, it has worked for me!  I know I would be willing to help you out and take a 3 for 1 offer on The good Guy - Dean Koontz, Mismatch - Tami Hoag, and The You I Never Knew - Susan Wiggs.  Just PM me and let me know, if not no biggy.

I also agree with the library suggestion, or even donate to goodwill.  I donate some unpostables that I receive and have already read to the library.

Hope this helps!
