Hey guys!

I'm trying to upload a file of my ISBNs to PBS but I keep getting an error.  I've tried CSV, I've tried TXT... are there any tricks or tips you could suggest to help me out? I have 2,000 books and I don't want to list them individually, I just don't have time!  But I'm dying to trade them away!

Heidi, you should be able to use any format to upload your files.  I am absolutely no computer wizard, but I will refer you to one who knows exactly how to do this.  Send a PM to Sherry N. (royaltech).  She is a tour guide as well, so you can check the live help desk from time to time to see if she is on line.  If you can't catch her, you can find her in the Member Directory and send her a PM from there.  She has helped several of my members with this exact issue.

Good Luck!

There is a limit on the number of entries in your upload file. I believe it is 1500, but don't remember anymore, because I highly recommend never uploading more than 50 at a time. This way you can double check each of them (as they will all be on one page, the page displays the last 50) and you can veryify the information. Since publishers reuse ISBNs all the time, it is very risky to just up load a list of ISBNs and not double check them as you upload them.

If you just upload, and an ISBN has been reused for another title or binding, then someone orders it, you don't pay attention, and pull by the ISBN, you will lose the credit and be out the postage when they receive the book and it is the wrong one. So, save yourself the later trouble and load only 50 at a time, and double check them individually to make sure they are correct. PBS requires that you be sure that each book's title, author, binding, as well as ISBN is the same. You can't do that if you upload 1500 books at once.

As for format, you can upload .txt .rtf .csv .xls as long as the ISBNs are readable.

Sent in a question to the PBS team and received the information below. Thought I'd post it here as it may be helpful to others.

---Regarding ISBN upload files---

ISBNs do not each have to be on its own line. They do not have to be separated by commas, but they do need to be separated by at least one space between ISBNs. As the Post a File of ISBNs page says, the file should be plain text.

Acceptable formats

-Plain text (including Rich Text Format) -HTML -CSV (plain text with commas separating ISBNs)

Have a great day!
