I requested a book on June 6th.It was marked printed the 7th and marked mailed the 9th.The person then printed another label the 12th and I e-mailed her.She said she was sick but it was mailed.PBS marked it lost on july 6th.I just got it and mailing lables says mailed June 21st.I want to mark received but with a problem cause this is not good trading .PBS will not let me mark with a problem other than damaged or not met requestors terms which i had none set.Should I just mark received and be satisfied with the pm i sent her?

Thanks

You can mark it RWAP with late mailing and enter the date it was mailed. You won't receive a credit back but it will go on the members record.

I tried but since PBS marked it lost there is no way to mark it that way.It only has a couple of ways to mark when its a lost book.

The postmark that says June 21, is that from the city she lives in?  Or is that from another city along the way?

On the actual package, is the postmark dated 6/21 from the city she lives in?

It sounds like they need to add a "late postmark" option for marking lost books received. It may have been an oversight. It's an option for books that arrive before the deadline, so it only makes sense to have the same option for packages that arrive after the deadline.

If you send in feedback, they may be able to document the late postmark for you. And maybe add the late postmark option too. smiley

I didn't know it was only an option to mark it befor the deadline. But I wonder if there is still a box to type in the date it was mailed or where you could type in notes that it was mailed late.

I had a book mailed late that was coming from close to me. So I kept wondering where it was and it was mailed a few days before it was to go lost.

I agree it is important to document things like this.

When you say 'postage' I'm assuming counter postage, APC, etc. that has a firm mailing date?  APC can be dated earlier, but not later.

I ran into this awhile back (lost book mailed very late), but had forgotten the new RWAP feature on regular log-ins.  And no, IIRC there is no comment box or other way to note a problem transaction from your Transaction Archive.  Maybe it's time to ask TPTB about this, or hope a Tour Guide comes by with a good answer??  Because I agree, if the mailing is delayed enough to violate PBS rules and contribute to the 'lost' event...it doesn't seem right that there's no way to document the problem.

Sorry I was at Bingo. The computer generated postage from her city was June 21st so was from her.And no there is no way to add anything for late mailing for a lost book.Only the options I posted. It needs to be directed to their attention that we sometimes need it there also.I will get on tomorrow and send feedback as suggested TY

Thanks for the help everyone.

I've never gotten a book after it was declared late, so I'm not sure how it works. But when I receive a book, it asks me for the postmark date. From my understanding, if the date I enter there is after the date when it was supposed to be sent, the sender receives an e-mail chiding them for (possibly) sending the book after they said they would:

"Providing the late postmark while marking the book received will generate an auto-email to the sender of the book, reminding him or her that late mailing is not acceptable at PBS.

  • The email includes the information that the late postmark could have been entered in error
  • The email includes the information that sometimes postmarks are delayed a few days, even if the book was mailed on time
  • The email includes the information that if the late mailing was agreed to by the requestor, this is not a problem"

So ideally, even without a specific checkoff, PBS knows it was sent late and lets the sender know it knows, even for those marked Lost.

I'm not sure the log-in from our Transaction Archive has a box for postmark date.  And it really should be changed to add the RWAP options available on the regular log-in page.

I have sent in Feedback on this in the past I believe, yes marking the book received from your TA does not give you the option to select the new Problem option of late mailing. It really doesn't matter that much.  You will still have the box to enter the late postmark. That will do the same thing as having the problem option would.
