The truck is for FUN - it means nothing!

It was mailed, I believe, on 1/28 or perhaps on 2/8.

It could have been mailed anytime from the 28th to the 8th.

The 28th is when the label is created.  It could have been mailed then, or the next day, or 3 days later.  The 8th is just the first time it was scanned.

Was it coming from Des Moines?  If so, that would lead me to believe it was mailed very close to the 8th.

Looks to me like your book was mailed somewhere between 1/28 and 2/8.   I use PBS postage and the "Electronic Shipping Info Received" scan happens sometime after I print the postage.  I drop my books in the blue box outside my work and it usually takes a couple of days after that before I get an "En-Route" scan.

The En-Route scan is a scan that happens somewhere along the way at a USPS postage center.  The sender could have mailed the book on the 28th, and it just took 11 days to get to the Des Moines sorting center.  Or she could have held on to it for a few days before actually dropping it in a mail box.

Des Moines, IA is the mail distribution facility   They are very, very good about scanning.  You may not see another scan on the book, but you will almost always see a scan out of Des Moines.  I would guess given the distance from Mankato, MN to Des Moines, IA that the book was probably mailed around the 6th.  Good luck.  Pat

Does it really matter? It looks like it was mailed within the proper time frame. That scan on the 8th is in a different city than it's orination city so obviously it was mailed before 2/8 unless they were traveling. If it gets to you before it goes lost does the mail by date really matter?

Unless you have proof otherwise, the assumption should be to believe the sender and it was mailed on 1/28.

Mail heading towards IA for us has been weird lately. My books sit in Fargo or WF for days and I see scans happening IN TOWN days after I blue-boxed the things where I would have seen the scan in IA 3-8 days after I mailed them in the past (mail going into IA has always seemed a bit slow). We keep losing the sorting facilities in MN and IA gets more and more mail coming into it. I bet that means the trucks heading to it from these states are fuller and mail waits longer to get on them.
