Second novel in her trilogy of medieval Scotland, which began with Highland Destiny, I loved this saga of a Scottish mercenary fated to rescue a spirited young beauty accused of murder. Good on it's own or read all the books in the series. If you love Highland romances, you'll enjoy the characters in this series!

I loved this book!!! Actually I love all of these books written by Hannah Howell! If you're looking for romance, suspense, humor and some good ole' plain sexual undertones - then this is the book for you! I enjoyed reading about Gisele and Nigel. I could not put this book down once I started. I even found myself speaking with a Scottish accent - LOL!! Once you've read this story of the Murray Clan you'll be searching for more!

Nigel Murray saw through her masquerade from the first: a young woman trying to pass herself off as a page. It almost worked-until she was unmasked in battle with the English, at the point of a sword. recklessly Nigel saved the raven-haired beauty whose secrets now endangered them both. He sprinted her off to Scotland, determined to erase the terror he tasted in her kiss.

Gisele knew the dark side of men, having barely escaped the brutality of her highborn husband, Lord Deveau. Now, with Deveau murdered and a price on her head, she was every man's prey-hunted for a crime she did not commit. nigel is her only refuge, a handsome stranger who challenged her with a fiery sensuality that burned all fear in its wake. But to truly trust him, Gisele must put the past behind her, and let her heart accept the simple truth...of his undying love.

I usually like stories set in Scotland, but found that this one rather tedious. The story seemed to predictable, that I was tempted to start skipping parts.
