I came across Mayhue on Amazon while searching for new authors I might enjoy. When more than one review compared her with Karen Marie Moning, I had to read her books.
Like KMM's Highlander series, Mayhue's stories revolve around hunky Scotsmen, spunky heroines, powerful and often irresponsible Fae (faerie or fairy...so not Tinkerbell), and a happily ever after (HEA). Who could pass that up? Not me!
The series is called the Daughters of the Glen.
Mayhue did a wonderful job weaving incredible but energetic plots with characters who have depth. The heroes (hot, intelligent, and overprotective) and the heroines (smart, witty, and a touch quirky) in this series often reminded me of Moning's. If the Fae legend wasn't so very different from Moning this could easily be considered a spin off of her Highlander series. Moning followers will enjoy this series. Romance and magic beautifully combine to entice the reader in this series. And while each book is a strong stand-alone romance, there is enough back story in each book for the reader to follow, the reading experience is richer when read in order.

What did Ellie say when the fae magic ignited into her trip to the past? Find her true love is the answer. Ellie and Caden spark when they are together. Caden is determined Ellie will marry another, and Ellie is unsure whether to seek out her true love or focus on returning home to Texas.
Sparks fly with Caden and Ellie that is pure magic. Ellie's special fae ability of communicating with animals is charming and brings more warmth to the story. The Scotland background and highland speak add realism to this sparkling gem. I look forward to the next installment!

Good read! A bit predictable in parts but sometimes that's a good thing. Both the main storyline and the secondary romance were great.

The fourth story in the magical world of fae and highlanders finds Ellie Denton suddenly understanding animals in a way no one would believe. The request Mairi made of Pol in the previous book is having unintended consequences, with women everywhere being granted the powers that had been blocked. When Ellie innocently wished for true love and a Highlander of her own, she finds herself sent back to 14th century Scotland, where she must overcome her fears and her disbelief, as well as intrigue and a doubting man in order to fulfill her magical destiny.
This series just keeps getting better - I like the cameos of past characters and the hints of things to come, as well as the way the magic has changed.

What an excellent book. It combines the Scottish Highlands and time travel...my two favorite genres. Caden MacAlister is a super hero and he sounds hot as hell. I wish I had a highlander of my own.

While the secondary story development had merit, I found the original intent of assisting the daughters of Pol quickly lost and never regained within the story in a related manner. The plot would have been stronger and probably more interesting if this had been pursued. The main character, Ellie, was pretty much left without any real understanding of her gifts or how to use them. It was like Melissa introduced one story line and then got lost in another with a ring of the Mairi story line reinvented. After reading reviews I expected something more and was disappointed. Perhaps her other books are better.

The Daughters of the Glen books just keep getting better and better. The characters are so likable and honest. Loved the story of Caden and Ellie. Sheep farmers from past and present who find themselves on a journey that humbles them in the end, finding the one true love.
I loved this book! It was a very good read. The heroine had many obstacles to overcome but in the end everythin g turned out for the best.

I enjoyed the book, but the fact that Ellie and Caden kept putting up road blocks to stall their romance drove me nuts.
The book was really good, but I feel most people recognise true love when it constantly beats them over the head. Especially when the hero is hot enough to melt kryptonite. WOWZER!

I LOVED this book. It's a quick read with lots of interesting characters. Every time I read one of her books I think it's the best -- and then I read the next and she has outdone herself again! If you like this type of book -- I highly recommend it!
