We've been getting some great kindle freebie alerts over in the Historical Romance Books To Consider For Your Wishlist thread. I just talked to Debbie H., our main kindle freebie-finder to date, and she said if I started a topic just for the freebies, she'd post them here. Great to see some Nook alerts! And Amazon also has the kindle version of the Elizabeth Hoyt short story Clever John for free now (I think I bought it for .99). Haven't read it yet, but descriptions say it is a 'short fairy tale' with most of the download devoted to a preview of "Scandalous Desires." For any fellow Vampire lovers out there, this series is set in Regency England. There may be others, but to my knowledge, Colleen Gleason is the only author who's done a Historical Romance "Vampire" series. And.it.is.AWESOME!!!! =) I haven't read this prequel short story yet but if it's anything like the series...5* Some people rated it low BUT only because it was to short a read and they wanted more. The 1st book in this series "The Rest Falls Away" marked Gleason's debut, followed by the other 4 books in the series. AND...it's FREE! Right now! I was reading the reviews about Victoria Gardella: Vampire Slayer (The Gardella Vampire Chronicles) and some people where saying that the freebie is actually the first couple of chapters of Gleason's book one in the series. There were quite a few 1-star posts because of that. One of the other freebies that Debbie found (The Duchess's Tattoo: Thoughts on The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin) is the same thing. So now publishers, or whoever, are putting up excerpts as freebies....somehow that doesn't seem right to me, but I guess in the e-publishing market, anything goes. BTW, I read The American Heiress and it is a very good book for anyone interested.
I really can't get into vampire books although I enjoyed the 2 books written by Teresa Medeiros. I love watching The Vampire Diaries and I'm rewatching Buffy on Netflix! What can I say, I'd rather watch the vamps (can we say I |
