This was an interesting book to read on a hot summer day of 100+ weather. Has detailed pictures of snowmen from literary, advertising, art, cultural references. Lots of chatty descriptions of the role of snowmen (or snow puppets if you are in England) and the author's process of finding this information. Not a book for children. Has many interesting political cartoons, commentary on topics such as global warming, alcohol ads with snowmen spokesmen, and pin-up type poses with snowmen, as well as more typical snow scenes of children. Some rare photographs of snowmen from 1800's. Quick read, just historical info - no instructions on building them!
