So watching the Pittsburgh Penguins battle for the Stanley Cub has made me wonder if there's a hockey romance series out there.  Anyone?

Deirdre Martin! There's a series that are connected with the characters though each focuses on the one romance. I started later in the series with chasing stanley. They play hockey but it's not like a sports thriller...

ETA: body check is one title, penalty box, chasing stanley..I've only read 2 and one of the others was about a fireman and newage shop owner(hardly any hockey mentioned excpet for a few characters) and 'just a taste' I dont' think has the hockey player as the main character but I know chasing stanlely does and I 'm pretty sure penalty box and body check do.

i'm a big San Jose Sharks fan, and last year i came across romance by Deirdre Martin called The Penalty Box on the FOL shelf so of course i picked it up.  he's an ex-NHL player who had to retire, and has gone back to his home town.  (so there really isn't much hockey in it.)  i wasn't impressed with it, but since starting PBS i've seen that lots of people have read the series, so maybe the others are better.

i don't get VS, so i can't wait until the series switches to NBC and i can start watching again.

Rachel Gibson has at least two books that feature a hockey theme - Simply Irresistble and See Jane Score.

In Deirdre Martin's New York Blades series, I think the first one Body Check has the most actual hockey in it, and is probably the best book of the series. The next one Fair Play features the best friends of the h/h in Body Check. The hero is a hockey player. Some of the other books revolve around secondary characters like the chef brother of the hero in Fair Play and then his sister and a fireman have their own book. But I'd say the series is only so-so and I think the first one is the best one. Penalty Box has young boys playing hockey and I don't really remember about Total Rush.

Others have mentioned D. Martin.  I have read that entire series to date and like them all.  Body Check and Chasing Stanley are both v. good, IMO.

The best hockey romance book is definitely  See Jane Score by Rachel Gibson.  Trust me on this one ;)

Also, The Trouble with Valentine's Day by Gibson has a retired hockey player from the See Jane.

It cracks me up that I like both these series so much since I can't stand sports.

Thanks for the ideas.  And so the reminder list grows by leaps and bounds again.  I wonder if I'll every actually order and read all these books.

Anna Sugden also recommends a couple others on her site:  Leslie LaFoy's Blindsided, and a couple by Cathy Gillen Thacker--The Virgin's Secret Marriage and The Secret Wedding Wish.

that's good to know.  i've got that anthology in TBR, and haven't tried Gibson before.  but the library does have See Jane Score, so if i like the story i'll know to borrow the book.

yeah Monica it works out great when I'm able to do it! Lately we've been busy so I have to stick with something light and not too involved and to ngiht I'm tired from lackof sleep so we'll have to see how it goes! on days it's hard to do anything except for the weekend I work or after 3 but unfortunately they bring a lot of samples after lunch and again at 4:30 or 5 and we leave at 7.

I am a HUGE hockey fan (obviously) and a big Rachel Gibson fan, BUT, I thought SEE JANE SCORE kind of stunk!  (mainly because of all the errors, that were apparently only obvious to me) LOL  Although the "best"/biggest error was the one where she is sitting in a hotel room in Chicago looking out over Lake Michigan where she can see all the way to Detroit.   As if!!!  I am all for suspending disbelief, but, come on . . . . .  LOL

SIMPLY IRRESITIBLE, on the other hand, is/was a fantabulous book!   :-)

GO WINGS GO !!!!!!!
