My book club is looking for a book to read for December. We'd like one with a holiday theme or that takes place during the winter holidays. Do you have any suggestions? (Can be, but isn't limited to, Contemporary Fiction.) |

How about some Charles Dickens? O Henry's Gift of the Magi, or one of the Biographies of Santa Claus? |

THE LAST NOEL by Michael Malone. A wonderful story that reveals the true meaning of being thankful for what you have in your life. |

Sara: I suggest Skipping Christmas, by John Grisham. It's a not overlong, pleasant read that amuses with its portrait of a man who becomes too weary of the obligatory cheerfulness of the season with its kitschy competitive overdone outdoor decorations, etc. |

I am not usually a fan of Christmas stories but I would recommend either the Christmas Train OR Finding Noel. Not sure of either of the authors names on these but they are ones I have read and really, really enjoyed. I have passed them along to friends and co-workers who equally enjoyed them too. By the way...Skipping Christmas was very, very funny. I loved the book - hated the movie. Last Edited on: 9/7/08 9:14 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash by Jean Shepherd. It's a set of short stories on which the movie A Christmas Story was based. I think it was re-released as A Christmas Story, too. I have a copy and it's hilarious!! |
