It's that time of year again...time for the H/F Secret Santa! Just post below if you want to participate.

I'll assign each person who signs up a secret buddy. After I have matched all the buddy's up, I'll pm with the buddy's name and address, then you'll choose a book from your buddy's wishlist to send as a gift. Everyone can put their most wanted wishlist books in a list on their profile to make it a bit easier. I would advise against placing books that get posted quickly on your "Most Wanted" list! Have your lists done by Monday so that people can get busy shopping. I'll leave this sign up open until Monday, then I'll pm everyone with the buddy names.

A few rules:

• There is a money limit; you should spend between 10 and 15 dollars. You can buy more than one book. This amount does not include shipping.
• The package should be mailed no later than December 5th. Try to time your package so that your buddy gets it in December.
• When the package is mailed, please pm to let me know.
• If you have a problem that will prevent you from being able to send a package to your buddy, please let me know about it just as soon as possible. I have a back-up plan all ready in case this happens and we all understand that sometimes life gets in the way of our best intentions. Just let me know ASAP! No one will be left without a gift! ;-)
• The book bought can be used, but MUST meet the posting guidelines here.
• When you receive your package, post about it and thank your secret buddy! On December 1st, I'll start a new thread for "Secret Santa" where we'll brag about our gifts. :-D
• Your profile and wishlist can not be set to private. Your buddy needs to be able to see it.
• Include a little note or card in your package to let your buddy know who you are.
• Remember that your buddy might be of a faith that doesn't celebrate Christmas, so no Christmas paper unless you are sure your buddy would like it. You can mention that in your profile list if you'd like, up to you.
• If you want to add a little something extra to the package, send a bookmark! Anything else will make the package ineligible for Media Mail.

I'm in, Valli!  Thanks for coordinating this.  It'll be a blast!  I may need some clarification on posting a "most wanted" list in my profile.  Perhaps you can tell us how to do that once sign ups are complete. 

Are we limited to sending just 1 book or can we send more as long as it is within the $10-15 limit (and this limit does not count shipping right)?

Count me in! This sounds like fun. And I'm curious, too, about if we can send more than one book if we're still in the spending range. If we find the book(s) used, we might be able to do 2!

Oh, yeah, you can send as many books as you can buy with the limit. No, that limit does not include shipping.

When you make your most wanted list, take a minute to check out how often books are being posted so you don't end up with the book being posted to your wishlist before you get the same book from your buddy. For example: A Phillippa Gregory book where you are first in line would not be a good one for your most wanted list. ;-)

One more thing...

You can't have your profile and wishlist set on private or your buddy won't be able to see which books you want. If you generally prefer to keep them private, you can set it back right after the deadline to mail the packages. ;-)

I am so going to copy the rules into my computer this time. I just can't remember everything from year to year! We'll blame that on the long period of time and not the fact that I'm getting old. ;-)

Valli - Good idea on the Christmas celebrator/non-Christmas celebrator thing.  We may also want to mention if we do celebrate Christmas, if we do it in a "Santa/Ho Ho Ho" sort of way or a "birth of Christ" sort of way (or both of course).  Could we possibly start a "wish list" thread where we could post the info. about ourselves and our "most wanted" books list? Or would you prefer to keep it in our profiles?
