It seems like her books have dominated my challenge list this year and there are still so many to get to. I drove down to see her last night (2 hours from where I am) and boy am I glad I went. Instead of reading from her book, she answered questions and laughed about her characters as if they were real life people. She told funny stories about her homelife, and made you laugh when she talked about throwing around battle axes for stress relief.  She keeps her kids inline by reminding them about her medieval weapons collection and her accuracy with a sword. Brilliant...why haven't I thought of that?  She quieted the room by talking about her brother's death and relating it to Styxx's book. I haven't read it yet, but apparently it's a real tear jerker.

She signed as many books as you wanted, took pictures, made small talk, and everyone got a hug - now who does that? Someone who really appreciates her fan base and continues to show them she does.

If you ever get the chance to go to her book signing, I recommend that you do it. What a great night!

I'm so jealous.  I live in Maine and none of them ever come here. (except maybe Steven King and I don't read his books.)

I have heard that other authors are not so nice when they sign books.  Sherrilyn did the entire night fighting a migraine with a smile on her face.  She has spoiled me for the rest.

I met her at a book signing a few years ago and I agree, she was very nice. She even took a picture with me.

very cool!

i read on her blog recently that Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant will be only about an hour away for a book tour of Parasite at the end of next month, and i'm trying to decide whether to go.  i'm not going to buy Parasite, since i'm not even sure i can read it (the concept is so icky to me, and hits a trigger from a story i read that *still* haunts me years later), but i'd love to hear her talk and i'll at least try the book if i can get my hands on it because i like her others so much.

I read Parasite an really liked the story and world McGuire created.  However, it does an ick factor...a big one. I love horror and don't mind gore (this is neither) but it still managed to make my skin crawl at times.  Ellen, maybe you could try a chapter or just skip it if it's too much.  Gotta say the October Daye series is still one of my all time favs :-)
