I tried three times to read this one and each time I cringed at the saccharine-sweetness of the little, perfect town. Perhaps I'm not the target audience for this one.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! I have heard so many good things about the Mitford series and I ordered it not quite knowing what to expect. The characters are all so real and loveable :) I am now working my way through the rest of the series!

Wonderful heartwarming book. It was so descriptive that it made me feel like I was actually in the small town of Mitford everytime I opened it, and I couldn't wait to read more each time I finally put it down at night. The characters are really personable. My favorite character is Dooley...love his interaction with all the townspeople. Took me a few chapters to really get into it, but I am so glad that I did...I highly, highly recommend this one!!!

I picked this book up on summer vacation at the beach. It was the only book on the rack at the pool house that looked good. Well I am glad I picked it up!!! I loved the book and couldn't wait to read more. I am a avid reader and I am excited to read more of the series.

Happy Reading!!!

Nice copy. Father Tim moves to Mitford, North Carolina where folks are friendly and neighborly. Mitford is beautiful and scenic, green hills, and pure air. Father Tim, a bachelor wants some family. God heard his prayer. A dog the size of a sofa moves in and will not leave. He acquires an unloved mountain boy whom he tries to show love. He also has an attractive neighbor who keeps walking through the hedge, a jewel thief, and a secret that is 60 years old. The book is great. I hsve read and loved all the mitford books.

I found this book uplifting and refreshing. It made me feel at home. It was a light and easy read, even though it touched on some deeper subjects. Father Tim is quite the procrastinator and in this book he had to push through that side of his personality to grow as a person and priest. Very enjoyable.
