There is also a significant industry involved in self-promoted housing, consisting of suppliers of prefabricated homes, designers, land search specialists, financial consultants and builders. Increasingly the self-promoted sector offers benefits for improved choice and innovation in the housebuilding industry as a whole. There has, however, never been a systematic evaluation of the areas where innovation is needed to develop a more vigorous self-promoted sector. This report quantifies and characterises the recent incidence of self-promoted housing. It identifies and summarizes the differences in self-promoted procurement approaches, and draws conclusions on the potential for the future expansion of self-promoted housing.« less
