The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men throug... more »h him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which enlighteneth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as did receive Him, to them gave He power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. Who were born not of bloods, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the Only-Begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. In expounding the word of God, and more especially the holy Gospel, it is meet, brethren, that we dwell fully, as far as it is in our power, upon every part of the sacred text, not leaving a single passage unnoticed, and that both we ourselves take in nourishment according to our capacity of receiving, and also minister to you, whence we have ourselves been nourished. The firsti section, as we remember, was handled on the'capita- past Lord's day: In the beginning was the Word, and Aelum' Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made , Feed upon such food as is suited meat for full-grown men.
