While cerebral affections are attended with intestinal disorders, these latter may in turn affect the brain, and he instanced cases in which after active diarrhoea and vomiting, convulsions and death occurred. Other cerebral conditions -are brought about by frequent and long-continued discharges from the intestines, with fail' 'ure of assimilation, reducing the albumen of the blood, and then leading to effuison of serum into the serous cavities, etc. He warns against atmospheric impurities, with hot, moist air, as productive of nervous depression, and consequent disorders with children.
