I ordered this book based on the recommendation of someone in another thread. I really want to thank whoever it was that mentioned it. This is one of the best books I've read in awhile.

It's the story of a diner in a small Texas town - which doesn't sound all that interesting. But the people who own, work and eat at the diner are what made me care so much about this book. They form something like a family and it was just enjoyable to read a book where there was not too much conflict but a whole lot of caring.

It's an easy read, but very enjoyable...and thanks ago to the person who mentioned it in the first place. I love reading "Hidden Gems" and this was one!

I liked that book. You may also like Bitsy's Bait & BBQ by Pamela Morsi.

"I am sorry, My greedy book lust caused me to show a certain amount of incivility and I apologise."

That's exactly the same way I felt when I scooped up someone else's copy!

"Greedy book lust"...I love it! I've always wondered if there was a name for my "problem".  :-)

Billie Letts also has a new book out.  I think the title is Made in the USA.  It's already on my WL.

Ellie,

Are you posting HONK AND HOLLAR? I'd be interested if JK is keeping her's/his.

I ordered this on audio cassette. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm listening to The Lovely Bones right now and am on the last cassette.  Looking forward to something a little lighter and this sounds  like it will fit the bill.

Actually when I was looking for this book on audio, I found that there are several copies available in hardback, paperback, and library binding. I typed in Billie Letts in my search.

I just did a search of all books on PBS and there are none at the moment. I typed in THE HONK AND HOLLER OPENING SOON and BILLIE LETTS.

I've wish listed it with auto response.

OOPS!! Spelling makes a difference. Went back and checked. Got it. Ordered it!!!

I'm nearly finished listening to this book and am so sorry that it is ending. Now that's the sign of a good book.  I will be on the lookout for more Billie Letts books.

I had never heard of her until I got Where the Heart Is from a game here.  I'm reading it now, and I love it!  I will definitely be getting other books from her.

I have read 3 of her 4 published books and have enjoyed them all.  Which reminds me - Got to look for "Shoot the Moon".

I read "Made in the USA" over my vacation last week when I stumbled across it in the library.

I just finished listening to Honk 'n' Holler and it was the abridged version so I'm wondering if it was missing something. Could anyone who read the book tell me if there was any further mention of what happened to Boy's wife and baby?
