If your son is a hockey player or likes the sport, this is a great book. It provides a lot of great facts about the history of hockey and its players. Its worth reading just for the quotes from various players and coaches. A favorite one is from Vladislav Tretiak, legendary Central Red Army Team (USSR) goalie from 1969-84: "There is no position in sports as noble as that of goaltending."
This small (5"x7", 160 pg) book is like popcorn. Many little kernals (short articles) to grab and digest. Not very filling, but certainly enjoyable while you're devouring it.
Very few of the tidbits in this book are new to long-time hockey fans, but for them, it's a nice little opportunity to reminisce. For new fans, this provides a chance to learn a little about the history of the game and its players.
RATING: 3 1/2 stars, rounded down to 3 stars where 1/2 stars are not allowed.
