  Only love I ever got
Was from this bastard
Believe it or not
He used to love me
Or so he said
Until the day
After we wed

Four kids later
and two black eyes
No where to go
No where to hide

Momma don’t want us
Dad never did
He’d get the belt
And we all hid

Dads coming home
Kids better skedaddle
He’s on the drunk
And ready for battle

Till death do us part
Or so they say
Too late now
I’ve got to stay

Wow. Incredibly emotional poem. I get a really strong, independent feeling, but also a sort of...um, like "you can never be saved" kind of feeling. Depressing, but very good!

This is very good! There is a strong ring of truth behind the words.
