Are there any over 50's who enjoy horseback riding?  I had a quarter horse gelding in my 20's and am now planing to buy another one.  Have any of you ridden any of the horse trails in Michigan?  Does anyone know of Condo developments for equine lovers in Michigan? They have them in Canada.

Yes! Well, I'm almost 50! I am looking forward to moving back to the country, and buying a horse then, but I do love to ride. I am in New York state though....

HI Brenda!

Do you have a favorite breed of horse?  I am particularly looking for a light colored (buttermilk) buckskin. I guess it reminds me of the good old days of watching Roy Rogers and Dale Evans on TV as a kid.

A friend and I are  in the process of starting a non-profit organization to rescue neglected horses and pair them with kids with emotional, social, and educational disorders. I ran a riding stable for a camp in Michigan for several years and have seen what the horse-human connection can do for at risk kids.

I know I'm a little late with this post but I am 30 and my TWH gelding will be 19 in May '08.  I don't ever want to stop riding...

I ride my horses, live in Illinois in the boonies so have little trouble finding places to ride.  Hope you get some response from Michigan.  I am unfamiliar with the state, myself.

Anyone putting up horse fiction books on their bookshelf, please drop me a PM as I'm always looking. I have quite a few yet to read here at home and will post them periodically. Have a couple up now.

I can highly recommend a buckskin, owned one for 19 years and he was already 17 years old when I bought him. I haven't ridden in years, (and yes I'm over 50, LOL), but have many fond memories of me and Dunny.

I'm 52 and been riding all my life.  I now own a breeding/showing barn in Texas near Houston.  Can't imagine life without horses.  My web is www.sonestafarms.com if you are interested.

I'm not anywhere near 50, but I have nine horses. I ride almost everyday. I don't know what I'd do without horses!

One of my horses, Barbie, will be 19 this year. She is blind in her right eye and it's sinking into her head. She is an awesome barrel and pole horse even with the blindness.

Jill, I think it's awesome that you're starting a rescue. There are so many horses in need of help!

I am 56 and still ride.. .I own 5 Arabians and rode for the first time in my life at age 36.  Self-taught and been thrown a couple of times... lol... but love my horses and love riding.  I live in an agricultural area in IL with lots of riding possibilities by the river.  And there are many parks close enough to trailer to.  I have a woman friend who still rides and is well into her 70s...   Love those horses...
