This is a great summary of the growth of hospice in the last 40 years, with an historical perspective. The focus is on the "why" of hospice, and serves as an excellent primer for those interested in the hospice movement. I am a late-life minister (third career) aspiring to become a hospice chaplain. I found this to be a wonderful introduction to the philosophy of hospice. It also was an easy read - I did not want to put it down.
