If you have read P.C. and Kristin Cast's series House of Night, what do you think of it? I have fallen in love with it. I am on the book called "Untamed".

I started "Untamed" last night and I am half way through it. They are really good books. I hope we get to see Zoey make the change along with her friends. I love Nala and Dutchess.

I loved it until the last book....no spoilers, but I think it was a little bit rushed.

I've read through Untamed and I love them so far.  Untamed was very good!  I'm waiting to read Hunted until I finish a PBS paperback challenge.

I have the whole series on my TBR shelf, I just haven't gotten to them yet. Glad to hear, though, that they're good. I might have to bump them up! :)

I wasn't a big fan.  I liked the first one, but to me, they went down after that and by the end of the 4th (the last one I've read), I was annoyed with almost all the characters.

I agree with you, Jenna. I read the first one, Marked, and was largely unimpressed. The writing was strained--it felt like she was trying to hard to sound all teenager hip. The story was admittedly interesting, but I didn't feel an attachment to any of the characters, so I'm not going to continue on with the series.

Jenna, me too!

And all the books have the same chapters.  "Damian is gay.  We're totally okay with that even though we're in Oklahoma, and it's pretty liberal here in our school, so we're totally fine with the fact that Damian is gay.  Damian has a boyfriend, Jack.  Jack is also gay.  We're totally cool with Jack being gay just like we're okay with Damian being gay."  And then the same thing happens for the "twins" (whose names I can't remember atm) and I just don't think the plot makes up for the super-annoying characters.  I don't think anything even happened in the fourth book (which is the last one I read).

(The stuff about Damian I paraphrased from my memory of the books, but I'm pretty sure I read it at least 10 times in 4 books.)

Yes, exactly, Britney!  That is a big part of what annoyed me.  It also drove me crazy that Damian would say a "big word" that they totally should know what it means and then he would have to explain it.  It felt a little too much like a teacher writing a book to teach her class vocabulary, which is basically what it is.  I read that Kristin would proof everything to make it sound authentic, but it just didn't come across to me at all.

I REALLY liked the first two but gradually it started getting extremely boring and repetitive. They're such a disappointment especially because the story is very interesting. I do not plan to keep reading the series.

I loved all the books.....Hunted was my favorite.  Although I got so sick of everything getting repeated in each book.  I did enjoy them enough that I bought the audio books as well...the only other series I have done that with is Twilight (of course) and vampire academy.

I love Harry Potter and the Twilight series.  Couldn't wait to get these and got them all. I read the first two and then lost interest. I really tried but they seem so slow or maybe they are just one of those YA series that are TOO YA for adults.

My roommate is currently reading the fifth one and she wasn't sure if it was bad because it just is, or if Kristen didn't want to fix up the teen speak in this one so PC had to try to figure it out on her own.  I'll probably read Hunted myself pretty soon, but my roommate has a higher tolerance for bad writing than I do and she doesn't like it. :P

yeah that one was kind of out of left feild but you have to remeber Kristen is or was still in college around that time.

Just to ask the question...being busy outside of writing excuses a bad book?

Hasn't Kristin been in college for all of them?  She goes to college in the same city her mom lives in.
