Hi April,

I am signed up to receive an ARC of this book as well.  I haven't received it yet (but then I haven't checked the mail yet today).  Have you done this First Look reading group before?  This is my first time, but I'm looking forward to it because it seems like the boards at B&N are pretty active with book discussions.  I like in-depth book discussions.  My in-person book club gets off-track a lot, so we hardly discuss the books :-(

Received it yesterday. Looks pretty good! Did you read The Monsters of Templeton?

Linda, I have not read the Monsters of Templeton.   Was it good?  Lindsay, I haven't been apart of the First Look Book club either, so I am looking forward to it as well.

I'm excited about starting this book:)

I also haven't received it yet. I got the Monsters of Templeton from them but still haven't read it yet. It just doesn't look like I'll like it.  What did you all think about it?

Also, a question for those who are getting  The House at Riverton.  Did you have to rejoin B&N First Look Club or do the book come automatically?  I tried to sign in to make sure I am getting the new ARC but couldn't get the page up.  I want to read this book, it looks good.

June - this is my first book with the First Look Book Club but from what I understand, every month when they choose a new book you have to reply to a PM that they send you via your B&N account telling them that you want the book and give them your address and stuff. Like I said, this is my first book, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but that's how they have the process outlined on their message board. It may be too late to get this particular book because they do have a time limit in which you have to respond and then the first so many people receive the book. If you want to read it, I can send it to you when I'm done with it :)

Thanks so much Dory. Let me know if you like it and I just may take you up on your offer.

I did not receive a PM or email from B&B about The House of Riverton. I received the first one; Monsters of Templeton though and thought it would be automatic for me to get the second one.  Do you want to read the Monsters once I give it a try again?

Happy New Year!

I think everytime they have a new book you have to reply to their PM saying that you want to participate. You should probably check your settings for your messages to be sure that it is alerting you when you have them. I believe how it works is they post on their forum that a new author is starting (supposed to be once a month but it doesn't look like that's been happening) and then you have to send a message to the person in charge telling them that you want to participate.

Here's what it says on the First Look post on how to sign up to get future books:

http://bookclubs.barnesandnoble.com/bn/board/message?board.id=announcements&thread.id=2&jump=true

How do I sign up?

Once we have a First Look selection, we'll make an announcement in the B&N Book Clubs, and open the enrollment period. If you tried but couldn't enroll in one month's First Look Book Club, you're not automatically enrolled in the next one. Because quantities of books are limited, we'll have a separate open enrollment announcement for each First Book selection. That's the only way to ensure that everyone gets a chance to participate.

So far the book is quite good, I think you'll like it. It had me wanting to read more right from the beginning pages and that's something for me LOL. I'd love to read Monsters and have no problem with letting you borrow mine when I'm done with it. I'll let you know how it is when I get further along too.
