I am fairly new and have a question about the Wish List. I have a book on my wish list. I was 2 of 4 and then went down to 1 of 4 last week. So, I was 1 of 4 for about one week. Today, I am back to 2 of 4. How did I lose my position? Can it take a week for the first person to decline or the sender to cancel?

If a member wishing for that book goes on vacation hold, or they had it offered to them & it wasn't accepted they go back to #1 on the WL.

People who received a book that was marked RWP will also get their place back in the WL line.

One place I can understand happens occasionally, but the other day I moved back 2 or 3 :-(

That's nothing. When the new WL features rolled out, I somehow moved from number 11 in one line to number 143. I dare all of you to try to explain that one to me. Fortunately, it was a swap book that I knew was on its way in the mail (I received it a couple days later) or else I would have been pretty upset.

Denise- 2 or 3 spots is not unusual, especially if it's a fairly long or quick moving WL. Afterall, people go on and off vacation hold all the time, and if it's a book that's posted often you can also assume that there are copies that go lost or get RWAPed, not to even mention requests that time out several days after the book is posted and the request not being responded to by the person who posted it.
