I have three kids, but everyone in the house has their own bookcase, with their own books in it.

That way I can keep track of who's books are where, and if anyone runs out of room, they have to clear out what they don't want anymore.

The only problem is that my TBR pile (170 books and counting)  is now moving to the attic as I've run out of space in my bookcase!

My husband and I definately have passed the love of reading to my daughter.  I haven't stopped to count all of our books, but I know we have more than we will ever have time to read.  My husband and I share a tall bookcase and he has a smaller one that he says he will get to when he retires.  What he doesn't know is that if some of them don't start getting read, I'm going to post them on my "bookshelf" here on PBS.  My daughter has a small bookshelf in her room and it is packed with books.

All three of my kids are readers - they each have their own bookcase plus they share a bookcase in the family room and another in the den. I have started purging a lot of the board book, etc as they out grow them. I would estimate that we easily have 900+ children's books in our home.

My son had been over at his friend's house playing a few weeks ago. When he came home he mentioned that his friend, Matt, has one of the same books as he does. I asked him, "does Matt have a lot of books?" He said, "Yes, but I have way more!" I thought that was funny :-)
