I hadn't done a BoB deal in a long time because I have had SO many disappointments (loads of unpostable books) in the past.

I just recently went against my reserves and did a huge one. Almost all the books I sent were like new. I received almost 50% of the books I ordered in nonpostable condition today. This makes me sick to my stomach.

This is also the very last time I ever want to do a BoB deal.

I want to completely cancel the membership. It doesnt expire until January, but I will feel bad every time someone requests a deal and I hate telling them no thank you, so I just want the BoB gone from my account once and for all.

How do I do this?

I tried to find info in help section but couldnt find anything.

Thank you so much for any help.

Just follow the directions here: Can I suspend/turn off/pause my Box-O-Books?

You won't have the little "Boxer" icon any more if your BoB is suspended and nobody can offer you a swap.

What Cathy says works.  I have mine on, but I only accept deals for books I really want or swap with people I know from the forums or previous good trades for many of the reasons you cited.  If there's nothing I really want, I just politely decline.

Thank you so much cathy for the link. I knew there had to be something in there, I guess I was just asking the question wrong on help. lol.

Thank you so much.

Karen, I am the same way. Worst part was I really did want these books, most were for keeper shelf for a series I had wanted. I literally tossed them in the garbage. I've tried to read all feedback before I go ahead, but it doesnt seem to matter sometimes. Just totally disappointed overall. Oh well. Thank you both again.

I never signed up for BoB because of this precise reason. Years ago, before computers, I used to have snail mail pen-pals all of whom were heavy readers like me. I used to swap middlin' size boxes of paperbacks with one of them and I'd either get a bunch I already had, or some I'd never been able to get into, or authors I didn't care for. While I thought my books were golden, I'm sure she had her disappointments, too, so we eventually gave up the swap. I don't think either of us planned or expected to disappoint the other it just sort of happened.

Actually, I'm not even sure HOW the BoB works here - do you each look through the other's Bookshelf and choose an equal number of books? or is it a blind swap? That can be fairly chancy, I would think.

You look at the other member's bookshelf and let them know what books you're interested in and send them an offer.  Then, they look at your bookshelf and see if there's anything they're interested in.  The 2 of you work out the swap.  Doesn't have to be even (like 2 books for 2 books), just whatever you and the other person mutually agree on as a fair trade.

Since the books come from your PBS bookshelf, they are supposed to be in postable condition.  If you don't find something you're interested in, then you decline the offer.

There are no credits involved.

Since the books are supposed to be postable, does Misty have any recourse?

Other than leaving feedback to state the issue there isnt anything else that can be done as far as I am aware. Since no credits changed hands, it doesn't apply like a rwap.

It's okay. Im not seeking anything in return. This was my last time of giving bob a chance, but with this one, the burns have far outweighed the good swaps. But I know alot of people that have great luck with bob, so I guess it is much like someone having a bad run of luck receiving rwap's or something.

Not a big deal, just didnt want it on my account anymore. =)

Thank you guys for the help. Cathy I was able to suspend it with the info you gave me. Thank you again =)

I had a BOB account for a year. I had pretty good lick with it. I just decided to let it laps. Sometime i might get it going again, but right now I have amountain of books to pick from. I never got a truly unpostable book.....a few that have been around to block too much, but that was just  a couple of books.
