I sent a book recently that a member is now unhappy with and I'm pretty sure I added some remarks to my listing that said that the book had a missing page.  But I  can't verify that now and can't find where I'd look back so that I can point out that it was clearly on the listing.  Is there a way to go back and look at that sort of thing?  I'm more than willing to issue a credit back if this was not indicated.  Though there were 2 that I'm very sure that  I marked this way and am only sure b/c I'm very new to this and asked DH what he thought about my remarks.   Anyway.....  a little help? LOL  Thanks!

Melissa...first welcome to the site and sorry you are having a problem.

To address your problem there Is Not a way to put a Note (that is seen by everyone) that your specific copy of a book is missing a page, also if you put a Tag on the book more than likely someone saw that and it was removed because those types of Tags are inappropriate.  There is No Way for someone to know from a Tag what specific copy of a book is "the one" with the missing page...that is why they are deemed inappropriate.

Also, a book missing a "Text" page Is Not postable.

Unlike some bookswapping sites, this one doesn't have a feature that allows book condition to be described.  If it doesn't meet the conditions in the link above, it is better not to post it here.

You can offer books with slight damage as freebies (i.e. free with a "regulary" credit order from your shelf)  You can see some examples of people doing that in the Book Bazaar forum.  That is a also a good way to get folks to actually look at your shelf and can generate some orders sooner than waiting for FIFO (First in, first out) to kick in.

You owe her a credit.  This site works on FIFO.  You can't describe your books condition here. Like others said: when a specific books description is put in a tag or review it is removed.

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for looking into the issue for the other member.  I see that other posters have explained about the FIFO and no individual descriptions here at PBS.  It's clear you weren't breaking the rules on purpose- I'd suggest that you just explain your mistake to your receiver, return the credit, and chalk this one up to a learning experience!  Many people have them!

If you're used to other sites then the PBS Fifo can seem really strange at first, but it's a great system.  When you get a minute take some time to really read those posting guidelines in depth and you'll get the hang of it quickly.  And you can always post here for clarification.

BTW, make sure you double-check any other books you've already posted before sending them out- since you may have done something similar with another book on your bookshelf.  You don't want to get in this situation again!

Have a great holiday and happy trading!

Sara
