Sorry for the lame question, but I am not computer literate. I saw the post about excessive PBS cookies degrading computer performance and got worried. How do I clean out my cookies? I have a Sony Vaio notebook that runs on Vista, if that's any help. TIA.

Hi Linda,

I'm assuming you're using Internet Explorer, so go to the top toolbar and click on Tools then Options.  Under the General tab there should be a button that either has Delete Cookies or Delete Browsing History.  Click on the Delete and it'll remove the cookies.  It may take a little time if you have a lot of cookies.

Hope this helps!

Which browser are you using? Firefox and Internet Explorer are the two most common.

The thread that you saw shows an unusual occurance. A very unusual occurance. Cookies are very minor little text files that sit on your computer. In most cases, clearing them out will just create a lot of extra work for you since it will wipe out your saved preferences. Unless you're currently having a problem with your performance degrading, I wouldn't delete them just for the sake of deleting them.
