I think this guy is scamming me. He sent me a message a couple days ago saying that he couldnt find my book, then he said he found it and would mail it, and then he told me that it didnt show up anymore so I would have to re-order it. So I did re-order it, but now Ive spent TWO credits on one book....so how do I get my credit back, and is this guy lying? |

If you or he cancelled the request then you got your credit back already. Look in your credit registry. He wouldn't get a credit unless he bought the printed postage (which I doubt since he couldn't find the book and you can't get a refund on printed postage). If he didn't use printed postage than he wouldn't get a credit until you marked the book as received. Last Edited on: 6/25/08 3:50 PM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

If he couldn't find the book, he needs to cancel the order. That will give you back your credit. At some point, if he doesn't mark the book mailed, the system will automatically cancel it. To each his own, but I wouldn't have ordered the second copy until he had canceled the order -- he could find his copy and send it to you, and then you'll get two copies of the book and be out two credits when it should have cost you just one. |

Is it still showing up on your account page? Can you cancel it? Did you reorder the book from him? Or from someone else? I'm confused... |

Check to see if, once his book order was canceled/deleted, that you didn't go on to the next person. You might end up with two books from different people. I would check asap and cancel one of them if there are two showing up. |

Sabrina-- Welcome to PBS, I'm sorry you're having a hard time with what must be one of your first transactions. It is worth mentioning that some PBS members have a LOT of books, and keep them in various boxes, stashes and other places around the house, and sometimes it can be hard to find something. I have, legitimately, had a problem with being unable to find a book once (hubby had lent it to someone without telling me), so things can happen to any of us without a scam being involved. That said, if you are uncomfortable with the transaction, you should PM the sender and ask to cancel it. You'll also want to check your transaction record and make sure the system hasn't ordered a second copy from another member. When the first one failed to mark the book mailed, the request should have gotten passed along to the next member in line. You don't get notified when this happens, it just does it automatically. There are more details in the Help Center on these types of transactions. Cheers, Catt |

you're not being scammed. when an order is cancelled, or times out, you automatically get your credit back. you can see that by looking in your Credit Registry (on My Account page, look in the yellow bar for this). however, if another copy is available in the system, another copy will automatically be ordered for you from another member, and when that happens the credit will be spent again. if you haven't received any copies yet, go to the My Account page and start looking through the tabs. see what you have on the Books I've Requested and En Route To Me tabs. if you already have one copy on the way, and one ordered, see if you can cancel the order. if the shipper hasn't printed the mailing label yet, you can cancel the order. if they already printed, you can ask them to cancel the order - though they don't have to and probably won't want to if they've already got the package wrapped and/or have spent money/postage already. |
