I'm trying to figure out how people are able to offer "2 for 1" etc. type of deals in the bazaar.  Is there some way the system handles this, or is this just done under-the-table through PM's?

It's under the table through PMs, the way I do mine is someone orders something off my tower and tells me what freebie they want, then I delete their freebie from my tower so nobody else can order it.

I prefer to get the other person to request all the books from my shelf and then buddy them back a credit.  This way it keeps the book in the system, I don't forget to remove it from my list before someone else orders it and I can I can print a bulk wrapper.

Another way is to send a book to a friend, but for this you need the person address.

When I've gotten deals, sometimes the sender just sends the book - all done through PMs and sometimes I've ordered it and they reurn a credit.

If I know the member and have swapped with them or they are on my buddy list,  then I will do what Jason does...work them to buddy credits.  If I don't know the member or they do not post frequently  then I will do what Becca does - I wlil have them order their books and PM the bonus books.  Once I have the request and I print the wrapper (then the member can't cancel) I will pull the bonus books off my shelf.  Sometimes I do not have bonus books posted - they are on my TBR or I am having trouble separating from them  - so it is easier when they are requested - I feel like they are going to a good home (little crazy but I become attached to certain books :)).

Now not to sound snarky but I actually came across this twice someone asking for a deal on my shelf.  I offered a 2/1 deal or 3/2.  they thought I meant they order 2 books and get 3 bonus books or ordered 1 book and get 2 bonus books.  I now spell out  2 books for 1 credit or 3 books for 2 credits and apologize for any tone associated for those that know.  It was uncomfortable both times, so now I am clear about the deal I am offering.

What everyone else said... plus, please take a look at the red, sticky thread at the top of the Book Bazaar page.  It outlines the rules for posting and deal offering.

Wow-jubead.  I would never have thought that 3/2 or similar meant giving +3 bonus books.

I must spell it out on mine in future

Your best bet is going over to the Book Bazaar and check out how we do it over there. As well as reading the sticky notes at the top.

The most common way it is done (nearly all the time) is you order the specified number of books and state the freebies both in the thread and in a PM to the person offering a deal. So say somone is doing a 3/1. You would order 1 book from their shelf, tell them which one it is and then tell them the 2 freebies. They would then manually take the two freebies off their shelf. (Ex: "I ordered Book ABC from your shelf and would like Book MNO and Book XYZ as the freebies.")

In reference to the other way it could be done, it is not common to make someone buddy credits in a deal. In fact, for as long as I've been on the BB I have never done that (either offering a deal or taking a deal) and I never would either. I've seen it done but very rarely. I'm just not willing to give someone three (or however many) of my credits if it's a "deal." I figure if they can't remember to take the books manually off their shelf I don't want to order from them.

But come on over and join us ... it's fun and I've gotten some great deals. And never had a problem.
