I'm taking part in market research about media habits. I get a weekly survey about buying DVDs, books, etc. Sending books out easily fits into the "passed on a book for someone else to read" category, but I recently received a book and I'm having a hard time figuring out what to check it off as. So, I'd like the general opinion of the users of this site. Would it be more appropriately marked as "received as a gift", "borrowed from a person", or "bought a used book online"? Does it depend on the individual book, i.e, whether or not I plan to keep it or re-post it after I read it? |

Is there no option to put "received from bookswapping website" or something similar? Or a place where you can write that in under "other" or something? None of those categories listed really applies very well to what happens here at PBS, does it? If forced to choose from the listed options, I guess I'd list it as "bought used book online" since technically a PBS credit does have monetary value. I'd go with the bought used online option for the same reason Cheryl put. |

Those are the three closest options. I really wish there was an "other" option. Thanks for your input and I hope this wasn't too off-topic forthis forum. |

I'd use either borrowed or gift, dependin on how often you keep or pass on books received here. :) When I mail out books, I always mark "gift" on the customs form, since no money changed hands so purchase just doesnt' fit (plus we are not permitted to sell things using our APO addresses, but bookswaps are OK because we aren't truly selling anything we are swapping) |
