i've been away and the site has transformed!  looks so great.  i just posted a bunch of books, but i'd like to put in my own descriptions as some are missing the dustcovers and one has a small rip on the front of the book's cover.  how can i "edit" my own book list that i've just posted?

thanks!

i've deleted the book that has the torn bit on the cover.  and i see i don't have to say the book is missing it's dust jacket.

You can't. A book cover can have a tear if it's under 1" long.  Hardcovers don't have to have dust jackets so don't worry about it.  If someone wants a dust jacket they have to have RCS that state they want a dust jacket. You have to agree to a persons requestion conditions (if they have them) before you can accept the book request.  So don't worry about the jackets.

You can't put a book's physical description on this site.  It works on a first in, first out (FIFO) basis.  So don't tag the book with it's condition because tags apply to all books not just your copy.  Just reread the posting guidelines to make sure your books are postable.

Hi Elaina--

If you mean the book's public description, it should not include condition information on individual copies -- that's per PBS guidelines.  Dust jackets are not required (folks need to use RCs if they want them) and tears less than 1 inch in the cover are permitted.

Cheers,

Catt

And the inability to post the physical conditions of a book isn't a change, it never has been allowed on PBS. People have been known to do it, but it has always been against the rules to post them in the description or review. So, if you saw some in the past, they were incorrectly placed there, and are slowly but surely all being erased. I ran across one the other night while doing some edits.

You might try this, if this is a book you have read, put it on your "Books I've Read" list or BIR, then there is a little yellow sqaure next to your listing that you can click and add a personal note, I am thinking you can make not of your own personal copy there.  Once you've saved a note it changes from yellow to red.

I don't believe that anyone but you can see that, so I am thinking it would be ok to utilize it for that reason. You just have to remember to check that list for any notations.
