Not sure what I expected from this book, just requested it because I work in a library and the title caught my eye. It's a short, sweet story that takes place in a small town. The preacher falls in love with the new librarian and they take on the town council that wants to close the library. A quick read.

A love story about a preacher and the town's new librarian. Initially he is awed by her beauty and grace and it is love at first sight. Then he meets the other, flawed side of her personality and must reconcile the two sides of her as well as his own conflicted feelings. There is also a side story about a crooked politician who is trying to get the library closed in order to further his own political career. It was a refreshing homespun story about nice, ordinary small-town folk. There was some gentle Christian subtext (not a surprise with the main character being a preacher) and I enjoyed that as well.

I have to say that this book had one of the best closing paragraphs I can remember in a book. The author, speaking as the main character, in a few lines summarizes his thoughts on life and people and it really struck a chord with me. So much so that I have made a copy of the page and hung it next to my desk for inspiration and added it to my signature.
