How do members find out when new books are put into circulation ?

I just got an email from a site that said book "X" publish date would be on March 31. Just for fun, I searched the book on PBS and found that it was on 229 member's wish lists. How did all those people find out about it when the book is not even published yet ????

publisher's websites, book bloggers, author websites, Twitter, going on Amazon and checking frequently to see if author i like (or publisher) has new books coming out, and then as soon as i get wind of an ISBN i check it on PBS and add to wishlist.  that way i'm pretty close to the top of the WL. it takes work though to get to the top!

If you go to Amazon, B & N, etc. they have lists of books not yet published...can't remember now just how it's worded, probably something like "Coming soon." For my very favorite authors I have subscribed to their newsletters--the signup is usually found on their websites. Or for some of them, add them as a friend on Facebook and you get publication news really early. You can also just Google an author, and often will find links to upcoming books. Websites like Stop! You're Killing Me (a mystery lovers website) or Fantastic Fiction (which lists lots of different genres) will have lists of upcoming releases too. I also subscribe to "author alerts" from my local library so when the library orders forthcoming fiction, they let me know they've done so--then I either wishlist the book here or get on their request list early.

I check in the Love & Romance forum.  They always have listings of the new books coming out. I am sure you are not into Romance LOL but maybe you could find something in there you are waiting for.  They have on for Historical and also regular old Romance  LOL

You may ask about starting a forum for mystery or what ever it is you are looking for

Fictfact.com is a good place to find out about new books in series.  It's free to join and you can log in which books and series you are reading or want to read. It'll email you when new books are scheduled to come out or you can bring up a list on the site.  It's only good for series though.

I go to goodreads.com and look thru their advanced reader copies that they offer in contests. If I have an interest in a book I will enter the contest then pop over here to PBS and put it on my wish list...........I usually end up within the top ten wishers that way for future books!!!! Well worth the wait until they are published and get into the system.

I check the fantastic fiction website for my favorite authors regularly.  They seem to list the yet to be published books well in advance of their publication date.

I've clicked "watch this topic" on the "new books to wishlist" threads for the genres I follow in those forums here on PBS.  (Mystery, Romance, Paranormal, and Fantasy.)  There are some really great people who update those lists regularly, well in advance of the release dates.  (Once or twice I've even added to one myself- but usually they beat me to it!)  :)   The system sends out an email every time something is added to one of the lists, and I can decide if I want to put that item onto my WL or reminder list, or ignore it.

I also periodically just click on authors names that I follow to see if their next book has been added to the system yet, or sometimes I'll get a pre-order notice from a bookseller about a certain title.  Now if only we could add more than 200 to our WL's...  ;)

ETA:  I've learned about new titles coming out from book blogs and ARC contests as well.

All of the above  http://www.reviewsbyjessewave.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/Green_Smilies/icons/icon_glaskugel4.gif  Like Debbie mentioned, several of the genre forums have threads where members post books to wishlist before they are published.  many of the current postings are for books with release dates in late 2011.  I use the 'watch this topic' option and check every day to see which threads have new postings.

BTW - for anyone following Christopher Paolini, the final installment of his YA series has been announced.  As of yesterday, Inheritance can be wishlisted here at PBS.  IIRC the release date is 7 Nov 2011

Author Alerts is another good source for upcoming releases.

I'm a fan of my favorite author on Facebook and she is constantly reminding her fans of the release dates of her books.  She is very active and posts details about her book tours as well.
