I simply couldn't put this book down. The warmth and steadfast love of the Morgan family is real and convincing, and theirs is a powerful story, dealing with the joys and hardships of Welsh coal miners standing against the mine owners, the English, and the changing world beyond their hills. Llewellyn also manages to capture the lovely cadences and syntax of the Welsh language. A classic story, and a wonderful book.
