A month ago..a nice lady :) ...sent me an PM (after she had pushed the button that said she had mailed me a book) and told me the book cover was damaged.  I said..thanks for letting me know..and I will pass on the book ..please cancel.  Can she not cancel?  I have been getting the ~did you receive the book~ emails for the last couple of weeks.  I just PM'd her and she said she did not mail it. because I said I did not want it.. ( I thought maybe she went ahead and mailed it because of all of the emails I have been getting)  I was wondering..how do I get my credit back?  Thanks

Well if you are getting the "did you recieve this book" emails she marked it mailed even though she didn't send it. About the only thing you can do now is wait for the book to be marked lost and then you will get your credit back. She can't cancel it on her end once she has marked it mailed.

She can send a feedback and ask R&R to cancel the transaction. She's the only one who can initiate the cancellation.

Thanks to both of you.  I wasn't sure how to proceed...She marked it mailed before she noticed the problem with the cover...I'll let her know..I asked her to cancel not knowing if she could or not.

another reason why a book should NOT be marked mailed if it hasn't been dropped in the mail box to actually be mailed.

After the 26th day you will recieve an e-mail from the Librarian telling you that the book has been declared lost and that your credit is being given back.  I believe that they also put the book on your Wish List automatically so you will get a chance to order it from someone else.  They do this as a courtesy to you.  Bottom line - you don't have to do anything, PBS will take of it shortly for you.
