I want to make sure I do this right..I received a lost book today. The stamps aren't canceled..so I can't tell when it was mailed..but it has one of those confirmation squares on it ( I think thats what the square piece of paper is) anyway..after it went lost....PBS put it back on my list and now someone else posted it..and I had it on auto..so it is being mailed to me. I sent her a PM but it is probably too late to stop her. So I need to make sure the first lady gets the credit..and I am not sure how to do that and that she knows the book arrived. Do I pm her and buddy her a credit. This is my first lost book since I joined...I guess I'll have 2 copies of the same book ..if the 2nd lady isn't able to stop the mailing..Thanks for any help. |

Go into your transaction archives and mark the book received. |

Per the Help Center, you don't have to give the one that went lost (which appeared to have been mailed after it went lost) credit: "If the book was mailed late and had already been declared Lost at PBS before it was mailed (and you re-requested the book and got it from someone else), this is an exception:
If I'm understanding your description correctly, there was an official postage sticker from the post office with no postage but a date on it that was after the book went lost -- those stickers are only placed on at the time of mailing, so that's your postmark date. Cheers, Catt

I guess I'll have 2 copies of the same book ..if the 2nd lady isn't able to stop the mailing. Yeah, That's why PBS advises you to wait a few weeks before re-ordering a lost book. However, if this was a wishlisted book, you should have been placed back at #1 on the WL. And if it was offered to you again, you would have no choice but to accept the order. You could always decline the order, but then you would be at the back of the WL. This has happened to me several times and I ended up with two copies of a wishlist book through no fault of my own. I really wish that PBS would change this, but don't think they plan to do so until the new wishlist is in place. So personally, I can't WAIT for the time when the new wishlist is put into place and you can put a WL book "on hold" and aren't forced to order it when your turn comes up. |

Thanks everyone..I'm not sure what this sticker on my package is..I thought maybe it was that deal they offer where you get your credit right away.( I've never used it)......it has my zip and a number under it.but no date.. ..and the stamps aren't canceled..but the original lady deserves her credit and I gave it to her. I haven't ever had a lost book..so I didn't know how to do it. I am trying to have the 2nd lady cancel but I don't know if she will see my PM..she said she wasn't mailing until the latest date..so maybe she will see my message. I did have the book on auto wish list..so that is why it came back on my wish list. I didn't decline because I thought the original book was lost. |

Has the person who got the order for the second book printed the label yet?? If not, you can cancel the order yourself...just send a PM to explain why you're doing so. If it's a wishlisted book, it will go to the next person in line so the person won't be losing the order, just sending it to a different person. If she's already printed the label, it is too late for you to cancel the order--she would need to see your PM and cancel it herself--and yes, you'd then be stuck with 2 copies of the book. Although, again, since it's wishlisted, you should be able to re-list it immediately and get your credit back fairly soon. Cheryl |

Yes..she already printed it out..so she needs to see my PM..it's a true crime book..so I'm pretty sure I am the only one that wishlisted it:) |
