On my wishlist, I had two unabridged versions of an audiobook; one in the MP-3 format and the other unabridged on CD's.  Today I received an ABRIDGED version of this audiobook on CD's.  The ISBN is very similar to my wishlisted unabridged version, but there are two numbers in the ISBN that are different.

I am fairly sure that the sender did not manually posted this ABRIDGED version to my wishlist.  But how did the system make such an error in matching this posted audiobook  with my wishlisted version since the ISBN's are not identical?

I haven't yet marked it received.

Thanks for the help.

My guess is that the person just looked up the title, clicked on one that looked similar and posted it without checking the ISBN or facts.  Or, and I don't know why they put this up when it just increases the odds of people making mistakes, when they posted their book by ISBN and it brought up the list of other possible editions, they picked a different that had a matching picture or something.

I want to say don't mark it received because you technically haven't received the book you requested. But  that might not be the right way to go about it per PBS rules.

I agree with Mary, the member probably posted by title instead of ISBN  crying  as Ruth recommends, you should RWAP (unless the member is very, very new...then you might pm first).

The system would not match up an incorrect ISBN with your wish. You are incorrect in the member posting it manually to your wish, not sure why you would assume the system malfunctioned over a person posted by title instead of ISBN which is a very common occurance. Whether an ISBN is one digit off, or all digits are off, the system will only see it doesn't match and wouldn't know that the book is the same to try to match it up to your wish.

You should mark it as Problem - Wrong Book, wrong version. That will put you back in the Wish List line for the correct book. You can explain to the person what the problem is and that the ISBNs do not match.

I did mark it RWAP - wrong book - wrong binding/version - and explained about the two different ISBN's as well as the abridged version that was sent vs. unabridged version that I had requested.

Haven't yet heard back from the sender.  Oh, and she isn't a new member but is a long time PBS member.  Had she been very new, I would have pm'd first as Denise suggested.

Thanks so much for all the input.
