I was ordering books for my husband. I ordered two books by the same author, different titles. He never used to read, and he's been all excited about it lately, since he's out of work due to a car accident.

The second one came today! It's the exact same book as the first, with a different title, different cover, everything!

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

So now i reposted the one i received today. Of course, it's not WL'ed so i basically wasted a credit.

GRRR! That really bites.

I could have used that credit for something i didn't already own!

that is irritating....always good to check the author's website to see if a book has been re-released.

Oh yeah. James Patterson's Black Friday and Black Market. I paid rather high used book prices on Black Market since I was so excited to find an oldy of his, get it home and think this sounds familiar...  They shouldn't be allowed to re-release a book under a new title.

The books that re-issue 2 or more "classic" romances under a new, combined title also irritate me.  Yes, they identify the books, but sometimes not very clearly.

I agree with Melanie - I don't think they should be allowed to change the title when they re-release a book.  It's like they are trying to TRICK people into buying a book twice.

I've found this with Catherine Coulter, Janet Evanovich, Nora Roberts and Lori Foster books.  They reissue books from really early in the author's career and change the title.  Sometimes the stories are updated to fit the times and make them more current.  Like changing records to cds and stuff like that.   Usually in the little Author's notes at the beginning they'll tell you this. Great if you're looking at the book at the store. Not so great when you're ordering online.  I don't know why they can't put a little note on the cover.

Debbie Macomber reissues her books, but she is very upfront about marking the books as reissues.  I would be really annoyed by what you described.

Before I purchase a book, I always look at the copyright page to make sure it's not a re-issue. Now it's just become a habit.
