I requested a book on the 21st, and the other member waited until the last day to respond (5th), and then chose the last day as the day they'd mail it by (the 31st).

Already I was annoyed but figured that was my own problem.

But the 31st is gone. Gone forever. Gone from every time zone on the planet, and it will never come again. It's history. Archives. Only the sad twinkle in a nostalgist's eye.

When does the request roll over to the next person? It still says, right now, that the other member has until 11 pm on January 31st to mark the package mailed.

I'm done being the good member who waited patiently, and helps weed out inactivity. Now I want justice. Or at least for the request to go to the next person who has the book I want.

I clicked the button saying I would mail later, and these are the messages that are displayed on the page:

I will mail this by: 2/4/2013 11:00 PM ET
Please note: In order to receive a book credit, you must click below by 2/6/2013 11:00 PM ET or you will not receive credits.

So looks like they have until 2/2/13 to mail the Jan 31 book.

There is a 2 day grace period. The maximum time allowed to accept an order is 5 days, then 5 to mail, then 2 day grace period. So, 12 days is possible.

That's the most poetic demand for justice I've ever seen.  smiley

Well, we're on the 12th day now. I'm patient, but this is just manipulative.

I've had this happen before. It is frustrating , but maybe an emergency came up. Or maybe because it is flu season , there really sick.

No, not really.  It's just the site rules.  Any book you order can take up to 12 days, and it's perfectly acceptable within the site rules.   They can mail it sooner, but they can take up to 12 days.  So if you want a book right away, you might want to order amazon prime.

They have 2 days after the mail date to mark it mailed. It will time out tonite around 3 am.

Maybe the book is already in the mail and they ust never marked it mailed. Maybe they have had bad weather like we have and haven't been able to get it in the mail. Maybe they went to mail it four days ago on bad roads got in a car accident and are dead.

There are worse things in the world that a book not being marked mailed for 12 days so I'd just relax and find a book to read instead of watching the ticker on the book.

It says 11pm but I don't think it really rolls over until sometime in the middle of the night. Like 3 am or something.  Whether or not they can markt it mailed after 11 pm but before the system has assigned it to someone else, I don't know.

I don't request any books from PBS that I need quickly.  You never know if you are going to get a same day mailer or a 12 day mailer.  Plus a book mailed the day you request it can still take the scenic route to get to you.

Oh Rick, just to make you feel even better - after the member marks the book mailed - they , technically, have another 48 hours to get it in the hands of the USPS - and still have not broken any site rules.

But, I do feel your pain - I went through the similar situation recently, and it is incredibly frustrating. I was even starting to venture in to the area of "if thats how long they take to get it im the mail, I don't want to get the book from this member anyway!)

As someone who chooses to, and is able to,  accept and mail the day after receiving a request 90% of the time, to order from a member who is at the other endof the allowable time spectrum is.....disappointing, frustrating and just downright annoying.
