I just borrowed the audio book on CD: ISBN 9781490612188 from my library's "hot off the press" shelf. I always add books I've read to my book list for the year here at PBS, so I can keep track of them. Normally, when they aren't found, they get added right away. I have searched for this one several times, and it still hasn't been added. How long does it take?

It sort of depends (on what I don't know). Sometimes they get added right away and sometimes it seems to take a couple of days. Pat

I will search every half hour or so. No dashes or spaces. This can trigger it to be added. But it depends on where on the internet that the data is. And there is a delay as the updates move across servers.

I've had it take weeks, but usually it is within a few days.

If one of the database services used by PBS has the ISBN (just not here yet), it will usually be added within hours-a few days.  AFAIK, the request gets passed along (via system) and the database service(s) will initiate a search.  That seems to be when it takes a bit longer.  I'm not usually looking for ones to add to one of my lists, so not in any particular hurry.  I try to search once a day for about a week unless it shows up sooner, of course :^) ...

There are certain databases that seem to add books almost immediately. If a book is only listed with the publisher, it can take longer.

If, from the time you unlock the door, you have 3 mins. to have the alarm disabled - eeek, that's an incredibly short time.

BUT if you're left on 'hold' for 3 mins., it's FOREVER!!  lol

For some reason, Amazon is selling this audio book as ISBN 9781501928536 and that's the one in the PBS database. They don't have ISBN 9781490612188 listed for sale at all.

If you are ok with your BIR list not matching the exact ISBN, maybe you could add this one and just tag it with the ISBN you actually read. Alternatively, you can put your account on hold, post the book to manually create the listing (you'll have to fill in all details), then delete the book from your bookshelf and add it to your BIR before taking your account off hold.

If the book is not sold by Amazon, then it will never appear in the PBS database unless you add it yourself as I described above. You can keep waiting if you want, but until some 3rd party seller or the publisher provides a listing to Amazon, it won't load into the PBS database just by searching for it.
