Let it time out, or you're just going to be matched right back up with them. Let the system work. I know, it's frustrating to wait, but really, it'll help you in the long run.

I requested a book on 12/9 and the member printed the label 10 minutes later.  However, that person still has not responded.  It still says "waiting for member".  I'm guessing the person is waiting to accept right before going to the post office.  I know its Christmas time and people are really busy.  I don't have much patience, but have to learn to get some (LOL).

I know how hard it is to see a book you want just sit there!  But the system works if you just wait it out - if the first member doesn't respond, the request goes to the next person.

Phyllis - Are you sure you are correct?  If the sender printed the label, it should not say "waiting on member," it should say "accepted-printed."

Phyllis, if you have a "waiting for member" after a "printed label" someone must have cancelled.  I'm guessing you rolled to a new sender because someone cancelled - check your transaction archive.

Dawgs and Anna,

Here's what it says.  "Accepted - Printed" but when I click on details it says "waiting for member".   Does this mean the person hasn't responded to the part about when will you be able to mail the book?   I'm so confused.

Thanks,

I was just about to post the same question! I ordered one on 12/8 and it still says waiting for member. I was going to cancel and reorder but I will just let it time out like others suggested. I'm not normally so impatient but it is the first book in a series of 3 I ordered for my mom and of course the other ones are on the way!

If you cancel and reorder it will go back to the same person (unless they cancel the order and take the book off their shelf)... and then you have the long wait again.  Even though it is sooo frustrating to wait (sometime the full 5 days) for them to accept and get things rollling, its better to let the system take care of it and move you to the next seller.  Another trick is to do a search for the on the box-o-books screen to see if a boxer might have it and order it directly from their bookshelf.

You might try to look at the reviews (if there are any) especially recent ones, to see if any of the review-writers have it on their shelf too.

These are actually books I choose from people. I was trying to keep the cost down by ordering multiples from members that had books on my list.  Unfortunatley only two members had at least  two books on their lists that I could do this with.    I guess I can continue to wait  as I'm not in a hurry.   They are Christmas gifts but aren't needed to be in hand for her ....as long as she knows they are coming is good enough.

Phyllis, on the main account page it will say accepted - printed but until they mark it mailed it will say waiting for member when you click on the details button

If you let the book time out it removes the book from that persons shelf and puts a red flag that their account might be inactive.  If they have multiple requests timeout then the account is put on hold. This helps weed out the inactive accounts. But it can be frustrating. I had a book I request, just a couple hours away from timing out on it's 2nd shelf when I posted in book bazaar what book I wanted.  I had a response quickly and cancled the 2nd request.  I know I should have let it time out again but I was tired of waiting.  I did my part with the 1st account.  But don't cancel a request unless you have someones shelf you can order it directly off of because it'll just go back to that person.  Then you'll wait even longer.

I've had 3 books this month go through multiple time-outs.  From a look at their shelves, they were likely inactive (few books, no activity in months).  In one case, it was a good thing, because the new sender made me a great deal on a series!  And I have 2 books now that will time-out shortly.  Luckily, I'm in no hurry for those.

Thanks Hugbandit,

The other poster mailed the book today.  Now I understand.

Yes, it can still say "awaiting member" after it's been accepted and printed. You need to go into the details to see it.

So Phyllis, you are correct as long as it says "AWAITing member" in the details.  I have one sitting like that right now. In my case they haven't mailed the book yet even though they said they would on the 11th. Of course, the book could have been mailed and she forgot the hit the button.

Also, the "printing" button on her can be misleading. I can make it show printed just by looking at the printing label. I don't have to actually print it. I learned that when I first joined because my printer was on the fritz and that's how I got the addresses to hand address the packages. That's in the rules here on the site so it's a bit misleading to say the actual label has been printed when she could just have been looking at who she was sending to.

Also, to the OP, like the others have suggested, as hard as it is to wait let it go through the course. Then as long as there is another book in the system you'll be moved to the next person in the FIFO system.

Another solution is you can always go to the Book Bazaar and ask who has it on their shelf (if it's fairly popular you should hear from someone). Maybe you can even get a deal on it!

Once a book has been "Accepted - Printed", how long before that  times-out (or does it)?  This person took the full five days to accept the book and it's been 5 days now since it was printed.  I realize this is holiday time and she is probably very busy; I only want to know if it will time-out after being printed, and go on to the next person in FIFO?

They have 2 days after the mail by date to mark it mailed. If it is not marked mailed in time the request will get passed on to someone else. You do not have to pay another credit if you end up with 2 books though. If the 1st person doesn't follow the rules and the request gets sent to someone else, only the 2nd person  will get the credit unless you decide to give the 1st person one too. But you don't have to.

Are you actually seeing an active "cancel" button even after the request is showing that the person has printed?  That really shouldn't happen and should be reported (through the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page).  Things would get really messed up if the person had actually already mailed and you were able to cancel.
