A wishlisted audiobook on auto request -- an MP-3 CD -- was granted to me and, since I have an RC requesting original packaging for audio books, the sender pm'd me, saying that it was a retired library audiobook and asked if I still wanted the CD's -- plural.  I replied and said that the audiobook should be only one CD, am MP-3 CD.  He replied that it was 5 CD's and the packaging said it was unabridged.  When I asked him for the ISBN, he said he couldn't find one on the packaging, which, of course, made me wonder where he got the ISBN he used to post it.  He then immediately marked the audio book mailed.

The audiobook came today and, indeed, there is no ISBN to be found anywhere on the packaging.  Since I had both the unabridged CD version and the MP-3 version on my wishlist, I am not unhappy about receiving the unabridged version on CD's and will give him the 2 credits for it.

Since there is no ISBN, he should have used the option of posting a book that has no ISBN which is what I will have to do if I decide to re-post the audio book.

I just don't know how to go about marking it received since it is not the ISBN I ordered.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,  Jan

Sorry that happened!  You'll mark it "Wrong Book - Wrong Binding/Version", since the ISBN doesn't match.  There's more info in a help doc called There is a problem with a book I received.

Yep, I always explain that I don't want my credits back and that the ISBN doesn't match, since there is no ISBN.  I usually also provide the links to the proper help docs, so hopefully they will learn how to do things right in the future.

Good advice already given. I'd probably be a bit bothered if someone messaged me about an order and then mailed the order before reaching a consensus with me about it but if you basically received what you wanted and know how to repost it, I wouldn't make too big of a deal about it.

I would mark it RWAP and then mark that you don't want your credits back.  He did wrong and it needs to be explained to him.  It will also be on record that he's not following the rules and sending out the wrong binding/version of what was requested.

Thanks for all the help.  I did mark it RWAP -  wrong binding, wrong version.
