I just ordered a Fire that was on sale yesterday. I wanted to get some of the books that on sale on BooksonBoard before the sale ends, so I downloaded Adobe Digital Edition and figured I would put them there till I can figure out how to work the Fire. My questions: I registered on BooksonBoard and downloaded ADE. I have an ID and password from registering on Adobe, but I'm confused by the first box in ADE which asks for e-book Vendor. There is a dropdown menu which lists various vendors but BooksonBoard isn't listed. The e-book vendor box has in Adobe ID in it. What do I put there? It looks like this: e-book vendor Adobe ID (top of dropdown menu) Adobe ID _____________ Password _____________ Last Edited on: 11/28/12 3:10 PM ET - Total times edited: 6 |

I do not think your books from your current kindle will download onto it unless you tell it too. I ahve an app on my phone as well as a kindle and when I get books from the website I can choose to send it to my phone or my kindle. I think you need to contact the ebook vendor for the information you need on adobe. |

The books in your account will be in the Cloud until you choose to download them. You will get covers of them in cloud & on your Carosel just hold your finger on them then when the popup box asks touch remove from carosel. |

Barb, I was trying to find out what to put in the spot that required an e-book vendor. I sent a quick note to Booksonboard and they replied to put Adobe ID there which is on the drop down menu. I then just downloaded the books to the Fire, didn't have to sideload from Adobe Digital Reader. I got about 12 books during the sale which were much cheaper than Amazon. Haven't tried Calibre yet, it sounds rather complicated. I'm just getting use to the Fire. Have a Kindle already. I do get frustrated as sometimes I have to swipe/press a zillion times till things change, but I'm learning. I've always been low on patience , so that's part of the problem The only other thing that frustrates me is that when I'm on the web or reading a book, I can't find the menu bar to get back to the main menu. I press everywhere and it won't come up, just the menu bar for the book. Oh well, I'll get there someday. |

Menu Bar is on top sometimes on side. tap the ebook and you see a bar on top of the ebook settings has time wifi/aiplane thingy put you finger on that & swipe Down You see many thing to navigat the Fire At the BOTTOM you see another black bar that has the House on it Tap House to leav the page/book/game & go to the Main Kindle Menus. Where /How did you get ade app for fire? Sounds like what I need for those Library ebooks Not Kindle! |

You can get ADE here http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions/download.html. It downloaded to my computer where you can read the e-Pub books. I then had to put the Aldiko app on Fire to read the BooksonBoard books on my Fire and download them directly from the store. As mentioned above, I got it cause BooksonBoard mostly carries -pub books which I can't read on my Kindle and I didn't want to mess with Calibre. Now I can just download the books directly from my Fire, didn't even have to sideload them from my computer to Fire. Things may work differently for e-pub books from the library. I'm not real literate on these types of things. You may need the ALDIKO app. The library should have info on what you need to read the books. http://www.aldiko.com/features.html Thanks for the help. No for library books you need an app for whatever program they are using like overdrive or netbooks. Overdrive has an app you download as well as the ADE download, and needing to register with them. Barbara- what program is your library using or which library are you wanting to download ebooks from?? Most libraries have links to all the apps needed to download the books, some aren't in the logical or easy to find places. |

Over drive. I called the Library yesterday they told me how to do it. But only works for Libraries ... ADE. Really Nice! Ebooks look better on it! Print Much Darker & Bolder! Than the book program on the Fire for Amazon ebooks! Couple weeks ago I wanted to read a book the library only had as epub So now I am 2 on the wait list for it Aldiko Wont download on my Fire HD ...not compatible...something like that. |

Interesting about the Aldiko, Barb, as I only have a first generation Fire and it works fine on mine. Puts my books on a little bookshelf where I can see everything I have. |

Stranger still until you try to buy it It Says its compatiable! Guess they had problems with it. Got the ebook [epub] Already read & returned it LOL Worked great! |
