I had a request from Wish list multiples and posted the books to the requestor's shelf.  Then I got her requirements.  She basically wants new books and the cover of one is worn so I cancelled the order as not meeting her requirements.

Now the books are on my account on hold for others.  How do I get them out of the system please?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Katie,

You can't cancel them until the requester accepts them.  Once they've accepted, a cancel button will show up on your end of the transaction.

What Mary said.  Here's a help doc on the question:

I posted a Wish Listed book I can't send!

If you Post a Wish Listed book you cannot send, the book will be involved in a pending offer immediately, and you will not be able to delete it from the system or cancel the offer until the Wishing member requests the book.

You should:

  • Wait for the book to be requested.
  • Decline the request if you cannot send the book by clicking
    • Doing this will remove the book from your account.
    • You will have a chance to explain what happened to the requestor when you decline the request.
  • To "speed up" the process (to prevent having to wait for a request if the first wisher(s) decline the offer of the book) you can put your account on Vacation Hold.
    • then, if the first wisher declines or does not accept the offer of the book, the book will go back onto your Bookshelf and you can delete it from there.  After deleting it, you can remove the Vacation Hold from your account.

I'm guessing that she canceled the order rather than you.  If you had been the one to hit the cancel button, the books wouldn't have been offered to other members.

Thanks for the help!  I messed up - I refused the conditions that the books could show no wear.

If any of the requests look like they will time out without a response, put your account on vacation.  Then delete the book from your bookshelf before you unhold.  Maybe you will get lucky and there'll be some inactives in there.

I think a lot of people who run deals and use the multiples thread ask people to turn their RCs off before they request.

I think a lot of people who run deals and use the multiples thread ask people to turn their RCs off before they request.

Or, at least, say something like "Please let me know if you have RCs at the time you PM me about these books."

There are a lot of people who ask both that people 1. turn off RCs and 2. put books on auto accept, but I usually PM back and explain that I can do one or the other, but not both at the same time, because then if I get offered other books from other people that are also on auto-accept, my RCs will be turned off for those too. And, since I'm usually #1 or #2 on a lot of  books at any time, I don't like to turn off my RCs.

People are usually OK with that.

I believe it is in the rules of the WL multiple thread that you have to communicate any RC's ahead and the rules explain why.  If I'm correct that person shou;d be told what she did was wrong so she doesn't do it to others.
