I have a book on my wishlist and I received a pm from someone. I'm not sure how to respond.

This is a copy from 1986. The cover is worn and the back cover has a rip in it. It is still perfectly readable, please let me know if you want it sent out or not. Thanks!

I know this is an old book so I expect it may be worn, I've no problem with that. And a small rip is fine too. I guess I've answered my own question. If the book is postable, I'll accept it. Thanks for listening.

Yeah, as long as the book is postable, I wouldn't have a problem with it.  If the rip is longer than allowed, I'd decline it.  Accepting it would only encourage people to post unpostable books.

Exactly! I hate when people post unpostable books and then tell me "it's readable"!

hmmmm, I agree with Bookworm and Susan.......sounds like they are trying to get you to accept an unpostable version using the claim "it's old".

I would tell them that if it's postable according to PBS guidelines (provide link) please send. If not, please cancel so that you may receive a copy you will be able to repost.

What Caviglia said yes  It's up to the sender to determine if their book is postable, but another can of worms if they are fishing for permission to mail an unpostable.  Politely reply that you accept books that meet PBS swappability rules, and if they need assistance determining if their book meets the criteria they can refer the the Help Documents:  http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/search.php?terms=swappability

Also - yoou will then avoid a situation where they can claim you "agreed" to something if the book arrives looking like it was dropped in a mud puddle.

I sent a message saying I was happy to accept this older, possibly worn, title as long as it met the sites postability guidelines and included the link. I got my answer, sort of. She did nothing and PBS just notified me that the request was cancelled because she didn't mail.
