I don't have a scanner at home, so when I have books I want to scan I use the scanner at our local public library...it's free! Anyway, when I get home and look at the image, it is often just a little crooked.

I used to have a program that made straightening these images really easy. It had a t-bar and then you just drew a line where the picture was crooked and it would automatically straighten it.

But I just got a new computer, Windows 7, and I can't figure out how to straighten these crooked images using either Paint or Windows Photo Gallery. I have two crooked images right now that need to be straightened.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Gayle,

I'm not very proficient with Paint so I use Google's Picasa which is free.  I find it the easiest to straighten a picture.  Picasa uses a grid and you slid a bar until it's lined up.

Hope this helps! Suzanne

I use infranview - which is a free product.  There is a straightening tool.  Basically you would click on the tool and draw a line across the image.  If you would like me to help, send a PM

I second the Irfanview recommendation.  Been using it for years and it's a great free program.

How to straighten a crooked image?

Apologize to those you have hurt or cheated.  Make reparations if you can. Work hard at keeping on the straight and narrow and your new clean image will speak for itself, in time.

I never knew before, but I've discovered that Word (2007 and later) have an image management tool that you can straighten, crop, and save. Very cool discovery that works really well.

That's good info, Mary.  I'll have to check that out.
